The Bureau of Fire Protection-Baguio reiterated its appeal to the public to observe fire prevention and safety measures to avoid the loss of life and properties.
City Fire marshall Jimbert Cerezo reminded the public to take precaution to avoid fire at homes and establishments.
Cerezo issued the reminder after a fire recently razed a four-story inn and restaurant at Lakandula in Barangay Kagitingan on Jan. 18.
Initial investigation of the BFP-Baguio showed that the fire was due to faulty electrical wiring.
To help ensure fire safety in workplaces and business establishments, Cerezo said fire detection and suppression systems should be installed. There should also be emergency or evacuation plans which every employee should be aware of. Employees should also be trained on fire safety.
Cerezo said that as the year started, they are intensifying their fire safety campaign through information dissemination, giving of safety tips, fire inspection, and the conduct of regular fire drills. – Redjie M. Cawis
