Indonesia-based Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang will be back in action when he faces Danial Williams at ONE Friday Fight 19 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Feb. 17.
Adiwang, who now fights out of Soma Fight Club in Bali, Indonesia, is determined to secure the win against Daniels, as the Cordilleran is vying to improve his ranking in the deep strawweight division.
The strawweight division has been lorded over once by Adiwang’s former teammate, Joshua Pacio.
“I think I’ll enter the top five with a win. Some of those in the top five have already competed, and I expect them to drop out with the losses. This would be my third consecutive win, if I win, and I believe I deserve to be in the top five. And with a few more wins, I believe I deserve a title shot,” Adiwang was quoted as saying in news reports.
But Adiwang acknowledged Williams is a formidable opponent and one of the best strikers in the division, as he also fought for the ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion belt recently.
“I’m always happy to get a fight. I have always said that I’ll face anyone, although I would’ve prepared a fighter in the top five, Mini T is not someone you take lightly,” Adiwang said.
“He’s fought the best strikers like Rodtang, Superlek, and Di Bella. I think his goal here in ONE is to fight the best strikers in the world and that’s why they gave him to me. What I want to show is that my striking also belongs on the top,” he added.
The 30-year-old William of Thailand and Australia has also defeated former division champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke via an impressive knockout win in 2022. – Press release
