Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda has urged concerned offices to assist and support the barangays in the titling of lands identified for barangay needs.
In a resolution, Tabanda asked the City Planning and Development Office, Assessor’s Office, General Services Office, City Engineering Office, City Buildings and Architecture Office, DENR, and other concerned offices to help the barangays identify lands for their needs and protect these from future adversities.
Tabanda said barangay projects, such as the construction of facilities for public use, requires that the land on which such will be established are identified for barangay needs.
“The process of land identification involves concerned offices which will determine if the land identified is public or a portion of a public land is free from any claim and is suitable for the purpose of the structure or facility.”
The resolution cited as basis Section 234 of the Local Government Code of 1991, which exempts from taxes real properties owned by the government, including lands titled in the name of the barangay. – Jordan G. Habbiling
