LUNA, APAYAO – Gov. Eleanor Bulut-Begtang has ordered the closure of all tourism destinations in the province as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19).
 “You are directed to close down all tourism spots in your respective municipalities effective immediately,” Begtang stated in Memorandum Order 82, which was directed to all the municipal mayors and the Provincial Tourism Office.
 Begtang said that the decision is among the preventive measures against the Covid-19.
 Begtang earlier ordered concerned offices to intensify the monitoring of people entering the province and to follow quarantine protocols.
 She stressed that all residents of the province including visitors who have travel history to and from the National Capital Region and localities that have confirmed Covid-19 cases in the last 14 days, are required to undergo the mandatory home-quarantine period upon arrival to the province.
Tourists who are not visitors of Apayao residents and having a travel history to countries with confirmed Covid-19 cases will be denied entry to the province.
Non-residents entering the province should log in the traveler’s registry at the checkpoints at the entry points of Apayao.  
 Begtang also ordered the cancelation of all crowd-drawing events and activities in the province effective March 10 following the declaration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of State of Public Health Emergency. – Redjie M. Cawis
