ATOK, Benguet – A farmers’ cooperative here is the latest beneficiary of the Village Level Farm-Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) project of the Department of Agrarian Reform.
The project involves the establishment of P913,000 worth processing center for the Pasdong Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative (PFMPC).
The project had its groundbreaking on March 11, which coincided with the signing of the memorandum of agreement between PFMC, DAR, and the departments of Trade and Industry and Science and Technology.
From the P913,000 provided through the convergence between DAR, DTI, DOST, P300,000 is allotted for the construction of the processing center building and P250,000 is for the acquisition of bakery equipment.
The remaining P363,000 will be used to secure license to operate from the Bureau of Food and Administration, which includes water and product analysis; and for capability building to capacitate or enhance the expertise of the bakery processors through trainings and benchmarking activities.
Vice Mayor Angelito Galao and DOST-Cordillera Director Nancy A. Bantog led the ribbon cutting during the groundbreaking.
