Athletes from Baguio City nailed a strong finish in the Angeles International Open Jiu Jitsu Championships 2023 held at the SM City Clark Event Center with seven gold, nine silver, and four bronze medals on June 17 and 18.

The athletes from Ronin Jiu-Jitsu Matzone and Gridlock Overlimit at Sniper Gym were led by Ethan Salvador with two gold medals in gi and no gi adult featherweight event.

Chriz Mindaro  also won one gold in the lightweight of male blue master 1 and a silver in the open weight.

He added two more silver medals in the blue master 2 gi lightweight and in the open weight.

Rocky Fowaya took home a gold in the open weight and a bronze in the white adult master 1.

The other gold medalists were Wren Lumidao in the white adult light featherweight, Jordan Lumidao in the white master 2 middleweight, and Jahmani Ngina  in the white adult lightweight class.

The silver me-dalists were Carty Mariano in the white adult featherweight gi event, Ron Deliu in the white adult featherweight, Manny Afable in the white masters 2 middleweight, Allysa Lapastora in the white juvenile middleweight, Edel Ali Ngina in the white juvenile light, Angelica del Rosario in the adult lightweight gi, and Keaunu Raye Francisco in the adult light featherweight no gi.

The bronze me-dalists were Marian Paras in the white adult light gi, Long Rafanan in the blue adult light gi, and Kyle Mindaro in the white adult rooster. 

The athletes who competed against highly-skilled competitors from various gym affiliations and countries such as the United States, Great Britain, India, Russia, The Netherlands, Singapore, and Norway, were coached by Guillermo Geronimo of Ronin Jiu-Jitsu Matzone and Dave Galera of Gridlock Overlimit at Sniper Gym.
