Baguio ultra-running police officer, Staff Sgt. Miguel C. Carranza, has been honored by city officials for winning a gold medal in the 10-kilometer cross country and a bronze medal in the 10,000 meters track and field during the World Police and Fire Games in Winnipeg, Canada in July.

Carranza, who is detailed at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cordillera, received the certificate of commendation from Baguio officials led by Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan at the City Hall grounds on Monday.

The commendation stated that Carranza has not only showcased his remarkable physical abilities but also embodied discipline, determination, and teamwork that are the hallmarks of the Cordillera police force.

“His accomplishments have not only brought honor to himself but have also reflected positively on his entire department and the whole Cordillera region. These remarkable achievements are a testament to Carranza’s extraordinary talent, perseverance, and relentless pursuit of success both as a law enforcement officer and as a world-class athlete,” added the certificate of commendation.

In the 2022 WPFG held in Rotterland, The Netherlands, Carranza won a silver medal in the individual 10-km. cross-country event.

He also partnered with two foreign police officers as their team won a gold medal in cross-country mixed event.
