Young athletes of TSJ Baguio Dancesport Team brought home three gold and one silver medals in the recently concluded virtual Jamilis Scholarship Cup 2022.

Seth Matthew Bambalan led the team, topping the three categories of the juvenile 2 solo in the cha-cha-cha, jive, and C Latin, the latter featuring the three dances cha-cha-cha, samba, and jive.

Bambalan and his partner, Maezyl Jesa Fernando, also won a silver medal in the couple juvenile Latin C in the second staging of the online event held June 25 to 26.

Melchizedek Hananin Pinos-an and Adriana Lorraine Gomez placed fifth in the juvenile couple Latin C while semi-finalists were partners Suzette Angel Lou and Asneah Bildan in the junior C duo Latin cha-cha-cha and Asneah Bildan in the junior 1 solo Latin cha-cha-cha.

Other team members who made it to the quarter finals were Charvie Pobletin in the junior 2 solo Latin cha-cha-cha, Shanie Ramos in the junior solo Latin jive, and Yvonne Jane Gosgos in the juvenile 1 solo Latin samba.

Early this year, the team also brought home two gold and five silver medals in the online and in-person event of the 2nd Manila Open Dancesport Championship.

Bambalan from Baguio Central School clinched gold in juvenile solo cha-cha-cha, another gold in juvenile solo jive, and a silver medal in juvenile C male.

He also led the team during its first face-to-face competition on April 2 when he won three silver medals each in the juvenile solo category of cha-cha-cha, solo, and jive. He also bagged another silver medal with partner Maezyl Jesa Quinones Fernando, also from BCS.

The newly formed TSJ Dancesport Team is led by coach Terrence Joeffrey Soriano with fellow coaches Kale Dumaguing and Jessica Marie Ogbinar. – Ofelia C. Empian
