BANAUE, Ifugao – Not wearing a face shield in this town will soon be penalized.
The municipal council recently passed an ordinance mandating the wearing of face shields in all forms of public transportation and at workplaces in the municipality.
Acting Mayor Donald Mongolnon signed the ordinance last Aug. 24.
“To further reduce the risk of transmission, as an additional measure against the Covid-19, and for the safety and protection of all, wearing of face shields, aside from the face mask will be mandatory in all public transport and work places,” a portion of the ordinance stated.
The ordinance applies to all workers in the public and private sector, commuters, and drivers of public transportation.
Violators will be reprimanded or warned on first offense; pay P300 or render one day community service on second offense; and pay P600 or render two days community service on third offense.
Penalty for fourth and succeeding offenses is six months imprisonment upon the discretion of the court. – Marcelo B. Lihgawon
