The Baguio City Football Club ruled three categories in the recently held 1st Double AA Football Tournament in Lipa, Batangas.

The BCFC topped the under-8, U-10, and U-12 years old categories, besting other teams of young footballers during the event slated on May 11.

Dave Fiangaan of BCFC said the football teams were represented by schools around Baguio and La Trinidad, Benguet particularly Pinget Elementary School, Bonifacio ES, Crystal Cave ES, Berkeley School, and Bahong ES.

“They displayed their impressive skills and talents showing the quality of grassroots football here in Baguio City,” Fiangaan said in his social media post. 

Jerry Soriano served as the head coach and was assisted by teachers Marc Benedict Solang for the 8 Under, Elmerine Panagan for the U-10, and Lily Sumebang for the U-12.

Following BCFC in the U-12 were Xavier FC as first runner-up and Perpetual FC as second runner-up, while in the U10, BCFC was followed by the two teams fielded by Makati FC as first and second runners-up.

The U-8 first runner-up is Perpetual FC and Vanguards FC is second runner-up during the event held at the Aboitiz Pitch.

Meanwhile, the senior players of BCFC are competing as of press time at the U-19 Boys National Championship in Bacolod City which kicked off on May 21.

Most of the players came from the Baguio City National High School with two athletes coming from the University of the Cordilleras.

The BCFC conducts regular grassroots programs for young football athletes in the region and has since been producing athletes who competed in the national and international stage, as well as respected football coaches through the years.
