LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The recently rehabilitated and refurbished building of the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) is ready for occupancy as extension for non-Covid patients.

The two-story building with a 35-bed capacity and the relocated triage for Covid patients were inaugurated and blessed  on May 11 and witnessed by Gov. Melchor Diclas and other officials.

BeGH OIC Chief, Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, said the main hospital with a 150-bed capacity has its rooms partitioned to accommodate one or two positive, suspected or probable Covid patients.

With the onset of the rainy season and the expected increase in cases such as common colds and dengue, the extension will accommodate non- Covid or regular patients, Dulay said.

“We prepared the old building so that when the ward is full, there will be an area where we can house our patients,” she said.

The triage for Covid patients was transferred in the gymnasium located at the back of the hospital. It is equipped with receiving area, tents, testing booth, Covid-19 swab testing cubicle, and other essential facilities. – Susan C. Aro
