The Schools Division-Benguet has contextualized Sulong Edukalidad or the Department of Education’s pivot to quality and future thinking in education through its banner program called Iyaman.

In its contextualized Learning Continuity Operational Plan (LCOP), Benguet made known its commitment to ensure the continuity of learning amid the Covid-19 pandemic while exerting efforts to provide quality education services characterized by innovations, youth formation, administrators’ empowerment, mobilization of resources, advancement in human resource management, and a nurturing environment for excellence (Iyaman).

“Coined after the indigenous culture of being grateful for every blessing, Iyaman became SDO Benguet’s contextualized pivot to quality education,” the executive summary of SDO-Benguet LCOP stated.

OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Benilda M. Daytaca took note of iyaman as a rallying force for all stakeholders to also strengthen the indigenous culture of cooperation locally known as binnadang.

“Amid this Covid-19 pandemic, let us strengthen our indigenous culture of binnadang (cooperation and collaboration) to ensure that every i-Benguet learner has access to quality basic education. Through binnadang among all our teachers, school heads, other DepEd personnel, parents, local officials and other stakeholders, we are confident that we could overcome as one the adversities besetting our education under today’s new normal, thus we teach and learn as one,” she said. – Ma-carthy B.
