Benguet legislative caretaker Rep. Eric Go Yap of ACT-CIS party-list has donated P2.5 million worth of personal protective equipment to health workers of Benguet General Hospital.

The office of Yap, through its head coordinator for Benguet, Anthony Kuan, has turned over  the donation to BeGH Chief of Hospital Meliarazon Dulay and Vice Gov. Johnny Waguis on March 30.

The donation contained hazmat suits, surgical gloves, N95 mask, goggles, alcohol, thermal scanner, and acrylic box aside from the PPEs of health workers at the provincial hospital.

“Walang pinipiling tao, katayuan, lugar o sitwasyon ang virus na ito. Lahat tayo ay maaaring dapuan. Protektahan natin ang ating mga healthcare workers. Sila ang ating frontline workers at sila rin ang ating last line of defense para hindi kumalat ang virus sa komunidad,” Yap said in his statement.

Kuan said the donations personally came from Yap, who also earlier gave P1 million from his personal fund to Benguet province to enhance its fight against the coronavirus disease 2019.

“We really appreciate this donation as health workers here are really hard up with the lack of supply of PPEs,” Dulay said.

As of April 1, Benguet recorded three positive cases of Covid-19, who are all in stable condition.

Yap said additional funds were also allotted to district hospitals in the province to attend to the medical needs of the communities, as well as additional funds for the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office. – Ofelia C. Empian
