Rising Cordilleran female golfer Zyrah de Leon of Baguio Country Club topped the distaff side of the premier division of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) Superkit Developmental Interclub at Sheerwood Hills Golf and Country Club in Trece Martires, Ca-vite on weekend.

The 14-year-old de Leon of HOPE Christian Academy carded 133 modified Stableford points after 54 holes in one of the best golf courses in Southeast Asia.

The Benguet native de Leon has emerged the best female player in the 13 to 18 age group when she scored 45 in round one followed by 41 points in round two before closing her game with 47 points.

The BCC Team 1 representative was 17 points ahead of second placer Chloe Ang with 116 points followed by Chloe Lim with 111, Rane Chiu with 109, Samantha Abaya with 94, Lavigne Yu with 85, Julianna Ong with 80,  and Zoie Bagaloyos with 79.

Other individual medalists from BCC were Miguel Orbita who placed seventh in the boys 12 and below and Seongmin An, also seventh in boys 13 and below.

Meanwhile, de Leon also carried her team BCC 1 to a se-cond place finish in the tournament presented by Malayan Insurance.

Together with teammates Seongmin An, Monica Angheng, and Von Raiden Tablac, the BCC Team 1 scored 321 points while team champion Cebu Country Club carded 344 points.

This year’s JGFP interclub drew squads from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Twenty-three teams including entries from Baguio, Cebu, and Davao saw action in the three-day tournament.

The field was divided into two divisions: 13-18 and 12 and under. Each team can field four players but only the top three scores would count.
