LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Philippine Red Cross-Benguet turned over hands-free portable washing stations to some public schools in the province as part of its Covid-19 recovery program initiatives.

The PRC handed over 14 units “drumvatories,”  to public schools  at the Benguet cold chain area in Wangal on June 19.

The recipient school are the Lepanto National High School and Balilli NHS, both in Mankayan; Ampusongan NHS in Bakun; Atok NHS main and extension in Atok; Kapangan NHS and Gov, Bado Dangwa Agri-Industrial School, both in Kapangan; Tuba NHS-main and Evelio Javier NHS in Tuba; Sablan NHS; and Benguet NHS-main and Alno and Puguis Elementary School, both in La Trinidad.

The hands-free station is manipulated using pedal to discharge water. It is an enhanced version of the faucet-based facility earlier fabricated and distributed by PRC-Benguet.

Governor Melchor Diclas lauded the chapter’s continuing efforts in the fabrication of washing stations anchored on  an executive order he earlier issued encouraging the installation of hand washing stations in all public and business entities.

He appealed to other institutions to support the cause.

Since the enhanced community quarantine, PRC-Benguet already distributed more than 60 units of portable hand washing stations to various communities.

The other recovery programs of PRC-Benguet include the provision of hygiene kits to families and the conduct of mobile hygiene clinic to barangays through health education and community-based psychosocial support program for frontliners.

PRC-Benguet has so far provided 376 frontliners and 161 communities with hygiene kits and psychosocial support services.
