DOLORES, Abra – The local government unit has recognized barangays with the best reading corners and play area in celebration of the National Children’s Month in November.
The municipal government initiated the search for the Best Reading Corners and Play Area among barangays that have learning centers.
The top three barangays with best reading corners are barangay Talogtog, Poblacion, and Pacac while the barangays with best play area are Talogtog, Poblacion, and Calumbaya.
These barangays will receive cash incentives in recognition for their efforts in establishing comfortable study and play places for the children.
The awarding is part of the culmination of the National Children’s Month celebration with the theme, “Sama-samang itaguyod ang karapatan ng bawat bata sa panahon ng pandemya” focused on upholding the rights of Filipino children amidst the pandemic.
The celebration was also highlighted by competitions such as composition writing, poster making, and Tiktok challenges for elementary and high school students in the municipality.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office has also distributed food packs and packed meals for the barangays, which will be served to children during their feeding program.
Mayor Conde Turqueza said this is also a good way of raising public awareness on matters concerning the rights of children especially those who are experiencing difficulties in their studies particularly the challenges brought by distance learning modalities. – Christian Tubadeza
