BONTOC, Mountain Province – In observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted the third season of the Bontoc DRRM Skills Challenge on July 8 at the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School oval and gymnasium.

Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. emphasized the importance of enhancing the skills of the youth in disaster preparedness and response.

He said these activities will not only allow the youth to practice and refresh skills acquired in their previous trainings but it is also an opportunity to socialize and strengthen their collaboration. The winning team will bring home P10,000, while the second and third placers will receive P8,000 and P6,000, respectively.

The fourth and fifth placers will each receive a consolation prize of P5,000.

This year’s participants are the Bontoc Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, Sangguniang Kabataan of barangays Dalican, Samoki and Poblacion; and representatives of the Bontoc LGU.

Facilitators are members of the Bontoc Emergency Response Team, personnel the Bontoc Municipal Fire Station, and Bontoc Municipal Police Station. – Christy Mae F. Che-es
