BONTOC, Mountain Province – The municipal government recognized athletes from Bontoc who represented Mountain Province and earned medals in the 2023 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (Caraa) Meet held in Baguio City on April 27 to May 1.

Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Sherwin Chamkas handed out the certificates and checks to the athletes along with their respective coaches and trainers on July 10 at the Bontoc Municipal Auditorium.

Tudlong expressed his gratitude and admiration to the athletes, their coaches, and trainers for bringing honor and pride not only to the Bontoc community but to the province as a whole.

“Your success in the competition reflects your determination in your respective sports events. Sports meets do not only promote physical and mental well-being. It also develops character, discipline, and teamwork – qualities that can help you succeed in sports and life,” Tudlong said.

The mayor expressed high hopes the incentives received by the sports medalists will motivate them and other students to continue striving for excellence in athletic and academic pursuits.

He also commended the parents and stakeholders for their unwavering support to the children, adding their presence during competitions boosts the high morale of the athletes.

Tudlong assured the continuous support of the municipal government to the education sector.

The provision of cash incentives to the student-athletes aims to honor and support their intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development for bringing pride and glory to the municipality and Mountain Province by participating in regional and national competitions.
