Department of Education Regional Director Estela Cariño requested local governments and other stakeholders in the region to render assistance when the agency launches Brigada Eskwela on Aug. 1.

This year is the first time since the declaration of the Covid-19 pandemic that the National Schools Maintenance Week or Brigada Eskwela will be conducted again.

Brigada Eskwela, which will be conducted from Aug. 1 to 26, is a prelude to the resumption of in-person classes for academic year 2022-2023.

Baguio City National High is the venue for this year’s launch.

Brigada Eskwela began in May 2003 and was institutionalized on May 2008.

It aims to promote volunteerism among parents, teachers, stakeholders and partners from private sector to prepare the learning environment conducive for learners. Brigada Eskwela under a new normal will continue focusing on strengthening partnership and community engagement to continuously implement the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan to ensure that quality education can be delivered even during a pandemic. – Mercy G.
