Benguet State University main campus in La Trinidad has recently opened the application for Bachelor of Science in Criminology, which is also offered at its Buguias campus.

BSU President Felipe Comila, in a memorandum, said the extension program is in adherence to the “One University System” that would connect all BSU campuses together.

Comila said Criminology was offered at Buguias campus during the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022 as approved by the Board of Regents.

A section of the program will be offered at the La Trinidad campus in coordination with the College of Criminal Justice Education located at the Buguias campus.

“The office of the University Registrar, La Trinidad campus is directed to process the admission of qualified incoming first year students and the Buguias campus to facilitate the enrollment through the College of Criminal Justice Education,” Comila said.

An extension office of the CCJE will be established at the former office of the graduate school at the La Trinidad campus.

Interested applicants may visit the “Admissions-Benguet State University” Facebook account for information. Limited slots are available.

Since 2021, BSU has offered new courses in its various campuses: La Trinidad – BS Civil Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Industrial Engineering, and BS Tourism Management; Bokod campus – Bachelor in Culture and Arts Education and BS Entrepreneurship; and Buguias campus – BS Criminology.

On the proposal to establish a College of Medicine, Comila said documents are currently with the technical working group for ironing out of details such as the load and salaries of doctors who will be hired to teach at the university.

He said the proposal will be pushed through since it has the support of the provincial government  and official of the 13 towns of the province, whose residents will mostly benefit from the college once it is implemented. – Ofelia C. Empian
