Benguet State University is partnering with Kabayan and Kapangan in Benguet for its planned expansion of campuses in said towns.

BSU President Felipe Comila said Kabayan has identified a three-hectare lot in Diboong, Gusaran for the establishment of an annex campus.

Comila said based from their initial survey, the courses proposed by residents of Kabayan are degrees on Secondary Education, Nursing, Agriculture, and Information Technology.

But Comila said the most feasible courses to be offered in Kabayan given the current situation are Education and Agriculture.

“We already went there twice for consultations and our survey team went there four times,” Comila said.

He said it was the late Mayor Faustino Aquisan who approached him during his investiture in January this year for the establishment of a BSU campus in the municipality.

Talks are also ongoing for a proposed BSU Kapangan campus, as Comila said university officials have recently met with the town officials.

He said they have also visited Kapangan Central High School and Governor Bado Dangwa Agro-Industrial School to discuss the said proposal with their respective principals, faculty, and staff.

He said BSU personnel are in the process of conducting a survey for the possible courses to be offered as well as the actual area and buildings to be used.

Comila has earlier vowed that his leadership would continue to enhance and achieve the quality of education of the university that would also bring development not only within the institution but also to its surrounding communities.   – Ofelia C. Empian
