Brothers Emmanuel and Felex Dave Cantores ruled their respective foes in the recent combat sports showdown as part of the annual fruit festival in Sablan, Benguet.

Emmanuel overpowered Arvin Sabado of Tribu Banwar from Tabuk City, Kalinga after three rounds of action in the kickboxing and main event of the competition.

Felex, on the other hand, delivered a knockout win in round one against Spencer Mamenta of Cauayan, Isabela in the co-main event of the kickboxing.

Training under the Kafagway MMA, the Cantores brothers were medalists in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia  with Emmanuel winning silver in vo-vinam’s 60-kilogram while Felex bagged bronze in kunkhmer’s 67-kg.  

In the undercard fights, Ed Liwan of Fight Corps MMA won against Aldrich Toralba of Dojo Kaizen via technical knockout while national kickboxing team member Whinny Bayawon of Ifugao scored higher points over John Mark Lizo of Boot Camp Kickboxing, Olongapo City in the 51-kg.

National Kickboxing Team’s Jerlyn Kingad dominated in the 54-kg. over Krizan Faith Collado of Baguio’s Uunga Combat Sports while Max Fusion Baguio’s Christian Padawil won against Jereed Lou Tido of Builder’s Team La Trinidad in the 67-kg. division.

The mixed martial arts event also showed the mettle of Goals Gym Baguio’s Ellerson Langaoen who won via referee stop contest due to ground and pound in the first round against team Brave Mountaineers’ Zeric Matic in the main event.

The MMA’s co-main event fight resulted in a split draw between Ivan BryleBestre of Kafagway MMA and John Paul Sarte of Olongapo’s Bootcamp MMA

Undercard winners were: Lions Nation MMA’s Aaron Posawen who knocked out Fight Corps MMA’s Ariel Jules Langaoan in round two of the 61-kg. 

Alestet Tagure of Tribu Banwar won via unanimous decision against Kurt Patting of Tribal Torogi, Roldan Lingbanan of Kafagway MMA won via ground and pound against Daniel Dave Egsaen of Team Builders, and Team Quad’s Daryle Wadasen won also due to ground and pound in round one against Bootcamp MMA’s Bryan Alviar.

In boxing, Ka-fagway MMA’s Rodel Mat-an bowed to Fight Corps MMA’s Renden Oppas who won via technical knockout while Melver Paran of Kafagway Boxing Stable won via decision against Kurt Nievera of Sniper Gym and Ricky Batio-an of Mabikas Gym won via technical KO against Prince Emmanuel Lagat of Cauayan Phoenix Club. – Ofelia C.
