City officials asked basic education school principals and administrators to designate a safe and spacious eating place or area for learners.

Under Resolution 645, s. 2023, the city council stated schools and other learning centers are considered as second homes of learners and are designed to provide adequate avenues for holistic development of every child in the community.

The resolution is adopted from the Senior Citizens Officials for-a-Day (Scofad) Council proposal that requested all basic education school principals and administrators to designate a safe and spacious eating or area for their learners within the school premises and waiting area for parents.

The council said it is the policy of the State to give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development.

Further, Article 2, Section 5 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution provided that the maintenance of peace and order, the protection of the liberty and property, and the promotion of the general welfare is essential for the enjoyment by all the people of the blessings of democracy.

The body added Baguio City being branded as the center of education in the north ensures that every learner or student is safe and comfortable while continuously getting the quality education they deserve.

Parents, on the other hand, as partners or stakeholders of the schools, are also given proper treatment when it comes to the affairs of the school relative to the welfare of their children. – PIO release
