City to launch online traffic app
The city government will soon launch a web application that will provide traffic information and directional assistance to motorists, which is seen to be helpful in mitigating traffic congestion during crowd-drawing events in the city.
The traffic innovation application developed by the Management Information and Technology Division of the City Mayor’s Office will provide motorists information on what alternative routes to take to avoid congested roads to their destinations and what roads to avoid due to closures or inaccessibility.
It will also contain other useful information like the location of public utility jeepney terminals in the city and basic traffic rules being implemented in the city like the number coding, motorcycle routes, and truck ban.
The online traffic assistance application will be accessible through a QR code or direct visit to the website through a link that will be announced before deployment.
Traffic snarls are usually experienced in the city during peak tourist season and during special events.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said traffic experts including the Baguio City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit and the City Engineering Office Traffic and Transportation Management Division have continuously been implementing measures and adjusting existing ones to address the problem.
This is while the city is working out a long-term solution to finally address the impasse particularly the smart transportation and mobility project.
