This near-sighted Ibaloy writer admits to not being particularly religious but more of a realist. To see things as they are, warts and all. No more, no less. With this being said, however, maybe my mother, Dr. Emma Baban Keith, has something there when she continually reminds me of what the Bible says about the end of days, the Second Coming, rapture, and the like. I mean, look at the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now comes Russian President Vladimir Putin, who decided to invade Ukraine causing so much carnage and suffering to its people. If these aren’t signs that this world as we know it could finally go the way of the dinosaurs (remember that several countries have enough nuclear bombs to erase humanity), I don’t know what will. If there is one thing this “madness” teaches us, it is to prioritize and realize what is really and truly important in our lives. Just saying.
Anyway, Mayor Benjamin Magalong warned that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will have a huge impact to the Philippines especially on its economy.
The mayor said the war between the two nations will drive inflation in the country because of high fuel cost. He added even the stock exchange and those who invested in bitcoins will be adversely affected. The mayor is confident, however, that the country’s economic managers are doing their very best in mitigating the impact of the war on the national economy.

Here’s “Your Wounds” by Lauren Jarvis-Gibson: “Time doesn’t heal wounds/ to make you forget./ It doesn’t heal wounds to/ erase the memories./
Time leaves you with a scar/ to remind you of how you fought through it./ Time leaves you with a scar/ to remind you of how you bled/ and how you survived./ You survived.

Let’s end with a prayer: “I pray that you have mercy on his/her soul and welcome him/her into your heavenly kingdom. It gives me some peace to think of him/her resting in eternal peace, but it doesn’t take my pain away. Please give me the strength to handle the grief and face life again without him/her. I ask for your help in the name of Jesus.”
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless and keep us all safe.
