The person identified as the one who hid shabu in a viand brought for an inmate in Baguio City was arrested for selling shabu in a buy-bust operation.
Police Regional Office-Cordillera Information Officer, Capt. Marnie Abellanida, reported personnel of the Baguio City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Jhon Raymond Cariño, also known as “Michael Aldawood,” 24, resident of Barangay Brookside on Feb. 16.
The suspect was arrested after selling five grams of shabu worth P18,500 to a police operative who acted as poseur buyer.
Two more sachets of suspected shabu were also recovered from the suspect. The additional items recovered weighed one gram valued at P6,800.
Abellanida said Cariño was identified as the same person who brought adobo containing shabu worth P136,000 at the Baguio City jail male dormitory on Feb. 12, but eluded arrest.
He said Cariño has been on the list of high-value targets of the Philippine National Police for his involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Abellanida said the suspect has been on the radar of the police and his identification in the closed-circuit television camera footage provided by the city jail management allowed them to confirm his continued active involvement in the illegal drugs trade. – PNA
