The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment (PDRA) meeting in preparation for the staging of the Grand Canao and the Panagbenga.  
CRDRRMC Chair and Office of Civil Defense Director Albert Mogol said security for tourists and residents have to be ensured.
 Julius Santos of the City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council presented the program of events of the Panagbenga and gave updates on safety and security plans.
 The Panagbenga will open on Feb. 1 until March 5. Among the crowd drawing events are the opening parade on Feb. 1 and the grand float and grand street dancing parades on Feb. 25 and 26, respectively.  
 Santos said Mayor Benjamin Magalong issued Executive Order 153, s. 2023 that sets the composition and functions of the Peace and Order, Public Safety and Crowd Control Committee.
Baguio City Police Office City Operations and Management Unit Chief Lt/Col. Domingo Gambican also presented the unit’s initial safety and security plan for Panagbenga, which includes deployment of safety personnel.
The security plan includes crowd control, traffic re-routing and traffic management, and police personnel deployment in tourist areas, city perimeters, and bus terminals.
With the annual Philippine Military Academy alumni homecoming also included in calendar of events for February, the PMA also presented its schedule of activities and security and safety plans in the meeting.
As added safety measure, the CRDRRMC also requested a Covid-19 situationer and relayed updates from the Department of Health-Cordillera.
The CRDRRMC PDRA meeting was attended by council member agencies especially from the disaster preparedness and disaster response clusters. The DRRMCs of La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay were also invited. – Carlito Dar
