Aggressive contact tracing is vital to the government’s campaign against the spread of the Covid-19.
This is why the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera, the Department of Health, Philippine National Police, and the City Government of Baguio, are working together to train all members of the contact tracing teams in the region.
DILG-Cordillera Director Marlo Iringan said that the government aims to quickly and effectively identify potential carriers of the Covid-19 to isolate them and halt the rise in the number of new infections, hence the conduct of contact tracing teams training is a must.
“Rest assured that continuous capability building/orientations, not only on contract tracing but also on other policies, shall be conducted to boost the government’s campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic in the region,” he said.
Iringan said all local government units are advised to increase the number of teams to do contact tracing of all persons with known exposure to Covid-19 patients.
These teams will also monitor and report daily the status of suspect and probable Covid-19 cases of family members with known contact to a confirmed case to mitigate possibility of contagion.
Iringan added that the main focus for LGUs should be the PDITRM steps, which are to prevent, detect, isolate, treat, reintegrate, and mainstream in accordance with the National Strategy to Defeat Covid-19. – Press release
