BANGUED, Abra – More than 60 employees of the Department of Labor and Employment including interns under the Government Internship Program in Abra were introduced to the importance of breastfeeding during a lecture on breastfeeding in the workplace led by the Provincial Department of Health (PDOHO)-Abra as part of the Labor Day celebration.

The activity focused on encouraging and supporting breastfeeding in the workplace as stipulated in the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009.

PDOHO Abra Nutritionist-Dietitian Jenelyn Leaño explained the significance of breastfeeding, especially for the mother and child.

PDOHO personnel presented techniques on proper breastfeeding that include instructions on how to position the baby, achieve a good latch, and ensure a comfortable feeding experience for the mother and the child.

The promotion of breastfeeding in workplaces aims to encourage, protect, and support the practice of breastfeeding to enable working mothers to continue breastfeeding their children.
