Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong asked the Department of Public Works and Highways central office to re-evalute and inspect the quality of work and infrastructure projects in Baguio City, which he reiterated to be sub-standard.
Magalong said there have been several “consistent sub-standard projects of DPWH-Baguio City District Engineering Office.”
Four cases were already filed against the BCDEO and seven more will be filed.
He also sought for better quality of materials and efficient workers to implement Baguio’s infrastructure projects.
“Tingnan nyo po ang sitwasyon namin dito sa Baguio. Kung ano po ‘yung quality ng mga trabaho na ginagawa po ng inyong mga tauhan sa siyudad ng Baguio,” Magalong said in a video message.
The mayor has been calling the attention of the DPWH-BCDEO due to the poor quality of their work and materials, which he said have been a waste of effort and resources aside from the accidents they have caused in the past.
“Sana po gumawa na po kayo ng paraan. Kailangan po namin dito ng matinong district engineer at matitinong tauhan po ng DPWH. Sana pakinggan nyo po kami.”
He said infrastructure projects that meet the standards will benefit Baguio residents who will be spared from infrastructure-related accidents. – Bianca Grace Contreras
