The Department of the Interior and Local Government Cordillera, through the Cordillera Local Governance Regional Resource Center (CLGRRC), in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, will be hosting a webinar dubbed “Ipeyas: Online knowledge-sharing sessions on Philippine currencies and financial and economic matters with BSP Northern Luzon” on Jan. 31 via Zoom and Facebook Live.

The engagement is designed for provincial, city, municipal, and barangay officials and functionaries, as well as DILG regional and field officers, to enhance public awareness on Philippine currency integrity and financial matters, covering topics such as Philippine currencies, financial learning, and the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program, said DILG Assistant Regional Director Ruperto Maribbay.

He underscored the importance of financial literacy in instilling fiscal responsibility among government employees and LGU functionaries.

“We acknowledge how important grasping the principles of budgeting, debt management, and financial planning can enhance the overall financial well-being of individuals and organizations,” he said.

“The importance of conducting online financial literacy training for government employees and LGU functionaries cannot be overstated. It not only contributes to personal financial well-being but also enhances job performance, ensures efficient use of public funds, and fosters a culture of ethical public service. It helps in fostering a responsible and accountable workforce in the government sector,” Maribbay added.

He said being knowledgeable about finances enables individuals to make wise choices when it comes to their personal and professional lives. As a result, this contributes to responsible and ethical public service. – Pamela Mariz Geminiano
