Get your vaccine and booster shots

Now that more spaces have been offered for booster and vaccine shots, we might as well avail of them and make life simpler. After toying with the idea of getting our booster shots at SM, queuing for long hours when we got our second dose, the idea of getting a booster shot without so much pila was a welcome respite. My daughter, who works at Venus Parkview Hotel at Kisad Road, got a call from civic leader Rafael “Paeng” Valencia to get her booster shot. Paeng is an “Outstanding Citizen of Baguio” and “Community Citizen” awardee and the president of 911 On-Call.
The City Health Services Office under the team of Dr. Malou Pakoy was being assisted by 911 On-Call members, other non-government organizations, and private hospital volunteers, and they were giving booster shots at Venus Parkview Hotel where she works.

I heard that the team will do a repeat vaccination drive tomorrow, Feb. 7, at Venus Parkview Hotel with the cooperation of Asst. Manager Jovielyn Bauzon. So doon po sa mga magpapa-booster or booster bakuna shot na members of the hotel and their families and residents of Barangay Burnham-Legarda, sumaglit na po kayo ng alas otso ng umaga hanggang alas dose ng tanghali bukas. Meron pong pagpipilian na bakuna: Moderna, Pfizer at AstraZeneca. Ang pinili namin ay Moderna, pagkatapos ng dalawang doses ng Sinovac.
Kung may ibang katanungan, maaari pong tumawag sa opisina ng 911 On-Call sa teleponong (074) 443-5678 o sa barangay sa pamumuno ni Kapitan Teodoro Castro sa teleponong 442-3426.
Ito ang paliwanag ni Valencia: “Noong nag-umpisa po ang vaccination kami po ang kinuhang partner or kaagapay po sa lahat ng vaccine areas as medical standby, screening sa crowd control, observation, at sa mobile vaccination po para sa mga bed-ridden at ‘di na po makalabas na senior citizen. Tuloy-tuloy po kaming tumutulong hanggang ngayon.
Dito po sa booster, parang napapansin naming na medyo tinatamad na ang ibang tao o sa kadahilanang may trabaho, ‘di makalabas, o kaya nagrereklamo sila sa haba ng pila, kaya sa mga ibang establishment po kami nag-aabot ng mga booster shots. Tinatanong po muna namin kung ilan po ang emplayado na hindi pa nabu-booster. Kung marami po, pinupuntahan namin at sinasabi namin na pati mga kapitbahay o pamilya na nila ay isama na rin para ma-vaccine na po sila. Kasama narin po ang mga miyembro ng barangay. Noong nagsara po ang SLU ng Enero dahil ginamit po sa bar examination para sa pagsusulit ng mga Law students at nagkaroon ng vaccinations sites sa mga establishments. Pero babalik na po as vaccine site ang SLU sa ikalawang linggo ng Pebrero. Sisimulan na rin po ata mag-vaccine ng mga limang taong gulang hanggang 11 taong gulang po.”
Valencia said they also administered booster shots at Hotel Supreme and Barangay Happy Homes last Thursday and Paladin Hotel and NEDA last Friday. The doctor in charge of Moog and Texas Instruments in Loakan is Dr. Posadas.
Valencia’s group is also partnering with them in terms of medical standby, crowd control, and screening.
The different teams are composed of: Team Lucban – Dr. Malou Pakoy; Team Aurora Hill – Dr. Sumbillo; but for the SLU vaccination site, both doctors are in charge. The mobile vaccination or Movacc is under Dr. Celia Brillantes. There are still other teams like the ones under Dr. KC, Dr. Tuvera, Dr. Tabin, Dr. Paragas, Dr. Tabooy, Dr. Colewan, and Dr. Belingon.
Valencia explained 911 On-Call was organized in 2006 and has at present about 90 to 150 active volunteer members from the medical and non-medical profession.
The members undergo trainings in rescue, angle rescue, firefighting, and medical assistance. Under the care of 911 On-Call is a boom fire truck and four ambulances. Their office is located at No. 26 Bakakeng Norte.
Para sa mga interesado na mga lugar para sa vaccination at booster shots, ito ang payo ni Valencia, “Pakibigay ‘nyo po ang address at kung ilan po ang magpapa-vaccinate. I-coordinate po sa inyong barangay para mapuntahan, lalong-lalo na sa mga pinuno, na sina Dr. Pakoy at Dr. Brillantes.
