The local government of Mountain Province has inaugurated the Governor Leonard G. Mayaen (GLGM) Sports Center in Bontoc on Feb. 19.

The sports center was named after the late governor Mayaen as a symbol of gratitude for his significant contributions to the province, as outlined in Ordinance 493 passed by the provincial board.

Bontoc Municipal Administrator Eric Fulangen, Sr. highlighted the facilities and equipment the center has for athletes.

He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in sports, emphasizing on the physical and psychological benefits it brings.

“As we witness the unveiling of this center, let us be reminded of the power of sports in fostering unity, health, and overall wellbeing in our society,” Bontoc Mayor  Jerome Tudlong said in a separate interview.
