BANGUED, Abra – The Government Internship Program (GIP) continues to bring employment opportunities to the youth in Abra.

A total of 53 young workers in the province are currently benefiting from the GIP under the Department of Labor and Employment.

Nicole Andrea Cadag, a GIP beneficiary from La Paz, is thankful for the employment opportunity that will also help her financially.

“It has greatly helped me because I was unemployed and it is challenging to find work, especially when you lack work experience,” she said.

Under the GIP, the youth beneficiaries will work in different local government units, national line agencies, and other placements under the program from March to August this year.

The GIP is a summer training program that engages the youth in productive public service to develop in them better understanding and support government programs and projects.

The program, which is supported by government agencies, also serves as a stepping stone for young individuals to have hands-on experience in a professional setting, refine their skills, gain knowledge, and improve overall professional competence.

It offers young workers a pathway to professional development and hope for a brighter future.

DOLE-Abra head Christopher Tugadi said the 53 GIP beneficiaries province-wide received their salaries as part of the first Labor Day celebration in the province. – Jamie Joie Malingan and Rachelle Joy Alvis
