Eighty-nine beneficiaries from Baguio City and Benguet will receive their Xtern foot drop devices on March 25, at the PFVR gymnasium starting 10 a.m.

Screening and assessment were conducted prior to the distribution to ensure that beneficiaries will have the right fit into their devices being distributed freely by the Akay Ni Sol Foundation in partnership with the city government of Baguio’s Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and the City Health Services Office.

The foundation based in Laguna is the exclusive distributor of the Canadian mobility device “Xtern Foot Drop” – an ankle foot orthosis unlike the conventional foot drop brace.

The foundation led by Sol Aragones, former representative of the 3rd district of Laguna has been going around the country to assist PWDs by distributing wheelchairs for free and now the Xtern Foot Drop.

The foundation distributed a total of 137 Xtern foot devices for the first and second batches last year.

For the third batch, there will be no assessment but inquiries will be accommodated at the PDAO during office hours or call tel. no. 442-7228.

The PDAO may also be reached via the official Facebook Page: Pdao Baguio.

Initially, the partnership was with the city government of Baguio but was expanded to Benguet. – Jessa Mardy Samidan
