The group that currently operates the tennis courts at the Baguio Athletic Bowl has submitted its proposal on how it intends to manage the facility.
Paul Rillorta of the City Sports Development Office said the Baguio Tennis Club has submitted the proposal in compliance with the letter of City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña.
In the proposal, the Tennis Club, through its vice president Marlow Licudine, said aside from maintaining the clubhouse, it also intends to increase its members and will continue to implement sports development programs for students in the public schools.
It added it will secure all tennis club facilities and implements, which can be used after the development of the facility.
The group also proposed to maintain the four shell courts and provide the shells at its own expense. It said it will maintain the lighting system of the facility and provide the materials for the preservation and maintenance of the courts, among other responsibilities.
The Tennis Club added it will continue to implement its remaining activities for the year.
Rillorta said the proposal by the Tennis Club will be reviewed by the City Legal Office before the city government signs a memorandum of agreement with the group.
He said the proposal is only good in the meantime that the redevelopment of the tennis facility is not yet realized.
Another MOA will be signed after the improvement of the tennis courts shall have been completed.
To recall, the Commission on Audit said that the operation by the Tennis Club of the facilities was unauthorized because it has no MOA with the city. – Jane B. Cadalig
