Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, husbands, natays (nanay at tatay), sons, uncles, cousins, nephews, friends, and relatives who are all part of this wonderful scheme called life.
Wishing you all a happy day for touching the lives of your loved ones. And happy birthday too, Dr. Jose Rizal.
On this special day, I pay tribute to my late husband Ed, to my son Nash, Peps or Pete, Per, Kidlat Tahimik, the late Kidlat Sr., Kabunyan, Karl, and uncle Nito or uncle Bucky.
You have all been part of our wonderful world and still is. It has been a year and a half since my dear Ed passed. Everything is getting better. There are still ups and downs.Sometimes the grief is overwhelming, but I am getting used to it.
Sometimes its heavy, sometimes it light. Just as my husband would like me to do, I look up at the sky and sing, Louis Armstrong’s “It’s a Wonderful World” or listen to Don Moen’s worship songs. It brightens up my day. I go out and keep myself busy so as not to get lost in memories, I won’t say painful anymore, just sad, since Ed is no longer physically present, but happy because I have wonderful children (Nash, Deke, and Reggie) and wonderful relatives.
I marvel at some superwomen and supermen who had been my inspiration, especially during the first days, weeks and months. Salute to you to you all.
To the Lord Almighty, I am grateful for every passing day. I am grateful for the successes of my children. I am grateful for my loving family, relatives, and friends. I am grateful for all the opportunities and good luck coming my way. I am grateful for good health. I am grateful for my five senses. I am grateful for growing old with all the love that surrounds me. At the end of the day, I am grateful for Netflix and YouTube.Yes, life is great!
Even if the world displeases me sometimes, I am still grateful that I am alive to witness it, to feel it and to nurture the new memories that come and will come my way. I am done with getting irritated at small things, at high and mighty people who always have things to say, at people who think they are always better and greater than anyone.
I am truly grateful for having met my Ed, the one who had given me direction and the joys of motherhood. In my golden age, I am simply grateful. I wish and pray for blessings for my children. “Behind a great man is a great woman”, I say, “Behind a successful woman is an understanding man.”
Happy Father’s Day to all great tatays out there! You deserve a big hug!
Happy birthday too uncle Nito, Razel, and Gen. Johnny (my classmate in NDCP).
Happy anniversary, Jon and Gemma!
