A team from Indonesia has emerged as the overall champion in the 1st Cordillera Dance Festival competition held online from Oct. 23 to 24.

The Bailamos Dance School in Yogyakarta, Indonesia ruled the two-day dancesport competition with a medal haul of 18 golds, 10 silvers, and three bronzes and total points of 47.5.

Dancesport Team Cebu City was in second place with nine gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals while another team from Indonesia, the Trivi Dance Community, placed third with nine gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.

Norala Kamaya-Dance Sport Team from South Cotabato placed fourth with six gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals followed by Curves Dancesport Team from Zamboanga with seven gold, five silver, and five bronze medals.

Salao De Baile from Iloilo placed sixth with eight gold, two silver, and one bronze medals followed by Team Zamboanga with six golds, three silvers, two bronzes.

The Benguet Dancesport Team shared the eighth spot with Infanta Dancesport Team, both having a 6-2-2 and 4-4-2 medal haul.

Bailar Es Vida from Antique and Rallego Dance Company from Pagadian City tied for the ninth place while Sinlayag Dance Troupe of Lucena City, Quezon bagged the 10th spot.

A total of 465 dancers from all over the country and abroad such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea joined the event organized by the DanceSport Cordillera Inc.

The first online dancesport competition mounted in Northern Luzon featured Latin and standard discipline and is supported by the Philippine Dancesport Federation.

The provincial government of Benguet and the municipality of La Trinidad also supported the event in partnership with Dance Results Philippines. – Ofelia C. Empian
