Personal information required before entering establishments is solely for contact tracing of Covid-19 patients.
Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong issued a stern warning to unscrupulous individuals using personal information from logbooks to advance their personal agenda.
The mayor said the Public Information Office has been receiving complaints on unauthorized use of personal information written on information slips and logbooks to advance personal agenda, such as religious preaching or business networking.
He reminded the public that personal information on logbooks of establishments and public conveyances are covered by the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and should only be used for contact tracing of Covid-19 patients.
Recently, Magalong signed Ordinance 107-2020 mandating submission of information slips whenever one wishes to transact business or simply look around establishments.
Info slips are also required when riding cabs or jeepneys, dining out, grocery shopping, or simply going to malls.
The info slip should contain their names, city addresses, and contacts for easy submission. Contact tracing is the very purpose the slips.
When receiving unwarranted calls or messages, the mayor advised these to be reported to Covid-19 hotlines 442-1900, 442-1905, 661-1455, 0927-628-0498, and 0999-678-4335.
“Let us not take advantage of the pandemic to advance personal gains,” the mayor said. – Jessa Mardy Samidan
