A composite team led by the Department of Health-Cordillera found 51 business establishments selling face shields at costs higher than the suggested retail price of P26 to P50.
The team composed of the Department of Industry Cordillera and the Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) of the City Mayor’s Office inspected 130 establishments as of Aug. 20.
PLD head Allan Abayao said those found selling above the SRPs were issued letters of inquiry requiring them to submit an explanation letter stating the reason why their selling price is higher than the SRP.
Those who will continue to violate without just cause will later be issued notice of violation with sanctions and penalties imposed.
A total of 79 stores, meanwhile, were found compliant with the SRP.
The monitoring launched last week upon the issuance of the DOH order setting the SRP for face shields will continue to ensure that SRPs are being followed.
The costs of face shield saw a sharp increase after local and national orders were issued, requiring commuters and workers to use the gadget as added protection against the Covid-19. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
