TABUK CITY, Kalinga – This city and the provincial government transported rice and food packs to three barangays in Tinglayan that were placed on lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Barangays Bangad Centro, Upper Bangad, and Lower Bangad were placed on a 15-day lockdown since Nov. 23 to Dec. 8 due to surge in Covid-19 cases in these areas.

The initial aid, composed of 800 five-kilo packs rice and 500 food packs, is part of the assistance being raised by the provincial inter-agency task force to 414 families or at least 2,500 individuals affected by the lockdown in the three barangays.

Last Nov. 29, the province recorded 18 Covid-19 cases of which 15 are from the three barangays.

The Provincial Health Office said this was the highest recorded Covid-19 case in a day in the province so far.

The report also showed that confirmed Covid-19 cases in the areas reached more than 50 while contact tracing is up.

As of Nov. 30, the province recorded 363 Covid-19 cases with 276 recoveries, 86 active, and one death.
