The Provincial Health Office (PHO) is reminding the public to practice anti-dengue behaviors as the rainy season starts.

With June being observed as the Dengue Awareness Month, the PHO reminded the public to practice the 4S against dengue.

These include search and destroy mosquito breeding places, seek early consultation from health experts, secure self-protection, and support fogging/spraying.

Provincial Health Officer Edward Tandingan and his team is conducting information drive on dengue prevention and control via mainstream and social media.

Epidemiological reports show that Cordillera is among the regions contributing to the increasing number of dengue cases in the country.

In Kalinga alone, 3,406 dengue cases were recorded in 2022; 722 in 2021; and 219 in 2020.

Preventing and stopping the spread of the dengue virus include the clearing of breeding sites of infected Aedes mosquitoes by cleaning inside and outside homes, seeking immediate or early consultation, and using self-protection measures like wearing long sleeves, long pants, and using insect repellent lotion. – PIA
