TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Agriculture Sec. William Dar assured that Kalinga will continue to receive windfall projects from the Department of Agriculture adding there are many opportunities for investment in the province.

Dar said under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), P375 million is allotted next year for the province.

Dar was in the province for the blessing and inauguration of the P230.6-M Bado Dangwa-Guilayon farm-to-market road funded under the PRDP.

Dar, the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for the Cordillera Administrative Region, added the Tabuk trading post with rice processing center will be established with funding of P100M and P5M for the Kalinga State University tissue  culture laboratory.

The proposed Guilayon multipurpose pavement will be handled by the DA Cordillera.

Dar also promised that the proposed Liwan West-Andarayan in Santor FMR worth P35M, concreting of the remaining five-kilometer stretch from Guilayon to Magnao with the construction of a bridge, including those initiated by Rep. Allen Jesse Mangaoang will be considered.

The 10.4-kilometer subproject has never incurred a slippage during its implementation period, and has set a record for being the fastest FMR subproject to be completed in five months and 29 days, ahead of its target date of completion despite the imposition of the community quarantine. 

He congratulated stakeholders who have contributed to the early completion of the project, saying DA’s investment in Kalinga is sure to improve the local economy and the lives of the people.

During the FMR inauguration attended by Gov. Ferdinand Tubban, Tabuk City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, and Mangaoang, the province adopted Dar as son of Kalinga by virtue of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution 2020-180 and named him “Dulliyaw,” which means brave, strong, and altruistic in recognition of his contributions and services to the people, especially in agriculture. – Peter A.
