RIZAL, Kalinga – The Department of Labor and Employment has released P3.2 million financial aid under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) for the emergency employment of typhoon-affected individuals.

DOLE-Kalinga Head Avelina Manganip recently handed to Rizal officials the check which will benefit around 1,000 victims of typhoons Ompong and Rosita in this town last year.

Under the Tupad, beneficiaries get 10 to 30-day emergency work. The maximum days approved in Rizal is 10 days to accommodate more families, Manganip said.

The rate per day follows the prevailing minimum daily wage in the area, which is P320 per day plus personal accident insurance.

Manganip said DOLE has approved the cash aid to recipient-municipalities based on program proposals and the extent of typhoon damage earlier submitted.

She said other municipalities of Kalinga that complied with the requirements will get the same assistance. – Larry Lopez
