Danny Kingad was always considered one of the most technical fighters in the famed Team Lakay gym, and that tactical knowhow extends beyond the circle.

The fourth-ranked flyweight contender gave his bold prediction for the electrifying matchup between ONE featherweight world champion Thanh Le and top-ranked contender Tang Kai at ONE 160.

The fight is ongoing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium as of press time.

Kingad, in an interview with ONE Championship, believed Tang is more than capable of wresting the gold away from Le in the matchup between the two striking masters.

The former flyweight world title challenger said one area Tang can capitalize on is wrestling.

Kingad saw closely how the Chinese star was able to subdue his Team Lakay stablemate Edward Kelly when the two clashed at ONE: Age of Dragons in November 2019.

Tang, who holds four knockout wins in ONE Championship, used his grappling to neutralize Kelly and eventually took a dominant unanimous decision win in front of his home fans in Beijing, China.

“When Edward Kelly faced Tang Kai, Tang utilized his wrestling to score points and kept the pressure on him. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he uses it,” Kingad said.

Make no mistake, though, Tang is still a striker at heart and Kingad believes the Sunkin International Fight Club fighter is a better fighter on the feet than Le.

Tang is on a three-knockout streak ta-king first-round wins over Ryogo Takahashi, Yoon Chang Min, and former top contender Kim Jae Woong. – ONE release
