Finally, a district health center accre-dited as “Konsulta” package provider by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in the city.

Lucban District Health Center under Dr. Maria Lourdes Pakoy had its accreditation released Nov. 23 as announced by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and City Health Officer Rowena Galpo.

As a provider, the health district can now render individual-based health services including initial and follow-up primary care consultations, health screening and assessment, and access to selected diagnostic services and medicines.

Magalong said this a welcome news, as Konsulta is a relevant health program considering the health challenges being experienced nowadays.

Galpo said nine other district health centers are due for accreditation but their goal is to have all of the city’s 16 centers enlisted for the program.

Among the criteria in being a provider are the capabilities of the facility to conduct preventive or screening services and health education, consultations, blood pressure and vital signs measurements, clinical breast examinations, digital rectal examination, risk profiling for hypertension and diabetes;  providing services for required laboratory and radiologic services and to dispense required medicines. – Aileen P.
