The ongoing Luna Terraces socialized housing project of the city government incorporates permanent agriculture (permaculture) to achieve its goal of establishing a sustainable and livable community.
The City Veterinary and Architecture Office expressed appreciation of the move.
Planning Officer Donna Tabangin said they will highlight permaculture in the place-making plan of the project “Luna Terraces: A permaculture community and socialized housing.”
Tabangin said building a livable community is now the city’s direction as one of the measures to achieve Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s goal to “get rid of irreversible urban decay.”
Tabangin said in the site development plan of the housing project, only 40 percent will be devoted to structures while and 60 percent will be devoted to the community environs which will include food forest and edible gardens.
She said Luna Terraces is a template for every socialized housing project to be built in cities. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
