The City Government of Baguio through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is set to launch the celebration of Marriage Week 2024 on Feb. 12 during the flag raising rites at City Hall.

Marriage Week is an annual event in Baguio City every February by virtue of Ordinance 10, s. 2017 authored by Councilor Elmer Datuin who is also the chairperson of the committee on social services, women, and urban poor.

The CSWDO listed several activities for the celebration of Marriage Week including a forum on “Building a Healthy Marriage” on Feb. 13 with 50 participants from several city government offices and government agencies.

Pre-marriage counseling and orientation will also be catered by the City Health Services Office for would-be couples.

Instead of the usual renewal of vows, a marriage empowerment session for 40 couples will be hosted this year to be facilitated by the Uplife Movement, a religious sector partner of the CSWDO.

A marriage enrichment seminar will also be conducted intended for persons who use drugs as an aftercare program of the CSWDO.

Family life development sessions will likewise be conducted for beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program.

Activities will be extended for the conduct of counseling sessions on love, courtship, and marriage among students in identified schools under the Department of Education.

The final calendar of activities will be unfurled Monday during the launching of Marriage Week 2024. – Jessa Mardy P. Samidan
