Cordillera’s “Wonder Boy,” Carl Jammes Martin, will see action in the Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) boxing bubble in Cebu on Dec. 18.

Reports said the OPSI through Vice President Jerome Calatrava reportedly forwarded the fight contract to Martin’s camp for signing that will pave the way for the Lagawe, Ifugao native to be back inside the ring before the year ends.

Martin will face Richard Rosales of Bohol who has a 14-13-2 record.

The 21-year-old Martin together with his father, Abel, who also serves as his chief trainer are in Manila where the young boxer trains in various boxing gyms in preparation for his fight in Cebu.

One of the hottest young prospects in the Philippines, Martin has been busy in his training in Lagawe during the lockdown.

He has been sidelined since March when contact sports were prohibited by the National Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

It will be the first time Martin will see action outside Manila, as most of his previous fights were held in Lagawe, Nueva Vizcaya, and the National Capital Region.

The Cebu event, dubbed: “Kumbati 7” is headlined by a 10-round bout between International Boxing Federation seventh ranked light flyweight Christian Araneta (18-1, 14 KOs) and Roland Jay Biendema (15-6-1, 8 KOs).

Ranked 37th by the World Boxing Council, Martin nailed four straight victories in 2019.

He currently holds 14 wins by way of knockouts/technical knockouts in 15 professional fights. – Harley F. Palangchao
