Filipino boxing prospect Carl Jammes Martin has stepped up his training for his Dec. 18 fight in Cebu City, his first outside the National Capital Region.

The 21-year-old Martin also regularly updates his fans with his training regimen in Cebu where he enjoys the company of regional champion Albert Price Pagara.

Martin will face the 27-year-old Richard Rosales of Bohol in a 10-round non-title bout in the bantamweight division in the event dubbed “Kumbati 7” set at the IPI Complex in Mandaue City.

Although undefeated in 15 professional bouts, Martin admitted he is not taking Rosales lightly, as the latter is one of the ring veterans having fought in 29 professional bouts, of which he had 14 wins, 13 losses, and two draws.

The last time Martin fought was on Dec. 21, 2019 where he stopped top-rated campaigner Philip Luis Cuerdo via technical knockout.

Rosales, on the other hand, saw action in Kumbati 6 where he was defeated by another prospect Christian Araneta via unanimous decision on Oct. 7.

Martin’s new friend Pagara, 26, meanwhile will face tough veteran Virgil Puton in an eight-round duel in the main event.

The World Boxing Organization Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion Pagara is one of the rated Filipino boxers, who has an impressive professional record of 32 wins against one loss. – Harley F. Palangchao
